Our trek begins among cocoa plantation in the footprint of a massive hill where mud till taste the expeditioners´ courage. This indigenous community is accessible only on foot, and it is necessary to be in good physical condition to get there, beside to use appropriate footwear gear, as the maximum altitude of our trek is 720 ft. above sea level. During the hike we will take short breaks along the way until we reach our destination platform where you can rest and enjoy the panoramic landscape. Along this strenuous hike, your guide will share information about the community, its history, culture, and it’s Birds Research Station, as this locations is a hot spot of birds migration amog the Americas. Throughout the migration seasons of Autum and Spring you can observe anywhere from 50,000 to 450,000 thousand birds per day including several species of hawks, peregrinefalcons, turkey volture, and ospreys. During the tour you will enjoy listening ans spoting birds, frogs and other animals such blue morphos butterflies. You will also learn how to identify many edible and medicinal plants and their health uses.
On our half-day trek, you will return from the observation platform to the road and our van will take you back to your acomodation.
If you choose the long trek, your guide will take you to a wonderful waterfall 90 ft. in height where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. On the way back, you will visit an indigenous family to enjoy a tasteful typical lunch as you learn about their legends and culture.
Duration: 4 hours for the half-day trek; 6 to 8 hours for the long trek. Departure: 7:00 a.m.
Includes: Transportation, experienced local guide (lunch is included on the long trek).
What to bring: Trekking boots, bottled water, snack, binoculars, long pants, insect repellent, swim suit on, and towel if you take the full day trek that incluides visiting the waterfall.
Recommended foot wear: hiking boots, or rubber boots. During dry season (first half of Autum) supportive running shoes are OK.
